COLONOSCOPY

Colonoscopy is an examination of the inside of your large intestine (colon). It's helpful for diagnosing gastrointestinal diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease and colon cancer. It can also help treat and prevent colon cancer. Healthcare providers recommend a routine colonoscopy for all adults 45 years and older to screen for colon cancer.

UPPER ENDOSCOPY (EGD)

An upper endoscopy is a procedure to examine the upper part of the digestive tract. The procedure is also called an esophagogastroduodenoscopy, or EGD.
Gastrointestinal (Gl) doctor (gastroenterologist) uses an endoscope. The scope is a narrow, flexible tube with a light and small video camera. Through the scope, your doctor can view the inside lining of your: Esophagus: The tube that carries food from your mouth to your stomach.
Stomach: The organ that holds food and starts the digestion process.
Duodenum: The upper part of your small intestine.

ERCP

During an ERCP, doctors use an endoscope and X-rays to view injectable dye as it travels through pancreatic and bile ducts.
ERCP helps providers diagnose and treat gallstones, inflamed gallbladders, bile duct blockages, pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer and other conditions.
