Advanced Medical GI (AMGI) is a comprehensive gastroenterology practice serving the needs of patients in the Northem Virginia and DC suburbs. We specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and conditions affecting the digestive system. Dr. Richard Blosser and his team of physician assistants and nurse practitioners are medical specialists who have received advanced training in gastroenterology, which involves the study of the digestive tract, including the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, rectum, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. We have provided care for over thirty years in the Northem Virginia region.

Gastroenterologists diagnose and treat numerous conditions, including acid reflux, ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), liver diseases (such as hepatitis, cirrhosis), gallbladder diseases, pancreatic disorders, obesity and gastrointestinal cancers.
Multidisciplinary Approach
We work in collaboration with other medical specialties, such as hepatology (liver diseases), liver transplant centers , nutritionists, radiologists, and surgeons, to provide comprehensive care for patients with complex digestive conditions. This multidisciplinary approach ensures that AMGI patients receive the most appropriate and effective treamtment options available in a timely fashion.
We provide on-site endoscopic services via the Gastroenterology Center of Virginia , one of the oldest AAAHC - accredited endoscopy centers in the State of Virginia. We provide hospital coverages at HCA Stone Springs Hospital Center and HCA Reston Hospital Center
Patient Education and Prevention
AMGI focuses on patient education and preventive care. We provide guidance on maintaining a healthy digestive system, offer screenings for conditions like colorectal cancer, Barrett's esophagus , gastric metaplasia ( gastric cancer ) and emphasize the importance of lifestyle modifications ( endobariatrics ) for obesity and proper nutrition.
